Two Canucks in Top Ten at US Open; Taylor Top Amateur

Mike Weir and Stephen Ames shared tenth place at the US Open completed today at Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York. The event was won today by Lucas Glover by two strokes over Phil Mickelson, David Duval and third and second round leader Ricky Barnes.
Top amateur for the event was Abbotsford, B.C.'s Nick Taylor who finished with a share of 38th place.
Canadian Golf Hall of Fame member Ken Black was a 24-year-old amateur when he entered the 1936 Vancouver Jubilee Open, which had a field that included golfing greats Byron Nelson and Lawson Little. Playing at his home course of Shaughnessy, Black came from well back in the field with a final round of nine under par to beat Nelson by three strokes.
